Augmented Singed Review

Today we have a review of Augmented Singed, and I will try to take apart its features, differences from the original skins and summarize all the information with my conclusion and evaluation. In brief, Augmented Singed is a skin from the Regual category on the champion Singed, which transforms our champion into a version “on steroids” as in the memes, released July 8, 2012.

Let’s first define who Singed is. Having spent his life studying alchemy, Singed, its faithful adept, gained incredible knowledge and also paid an incredible price for it by losing his mind. When considering any skin on Singed, I like to think that each of his skins is an alternate branch of his future development. In the Augmented Singed event branch, our champion decided to gain physical power through endless augmentations, and as we know, augmentations themselves are already a big detriment to sanity, let alone Singed’s sanity. Comparable in size to powerful heroes like Darius and Garen, who underestimated the power of our hero’s mind, Singed began to instill fear even in their heads, forcing them to rethink their powers.

Concept and inspiration 

One is left wondering what the inspiration for Augmented Singed was, but I have a thought on the subject. In the Batman universe, there is a villain named Bane, who not only survived a deadly substance called Venom, but also gained extraordinary physical strength. A side effect of Venom was the need to consume it every 12 hours. Assuming our Singed knew the formula for the substance, everything becomes clear. A huge tank behind his back with a substance that damages all the heroes of the rift, and Singed only increases his power… You can think about that theory.

Design, Sound Effects and Animations

Augmented Singed is a pretty old skin and didn’t get any new animations and sounds, but Singed’s appearance was transformed and now no one dares to make fun of him in the rift. The size of this giant is just impressive, it seems that Augmented Singed has no equal in physical strength. If Riot Games were to make this skin now, they would probably add animations related to his physical size, for example Singed could increase in size after using unique abilities.

Unique Features

I’d like to briefly describe how Augmented Singed differs from his classic image:

The appearance of the champion has been completely transformed. He is now a real giant with a huge container of toxic substances and a huge weapon in his hands. His face is now covered by a mask, as perhaps the endless augmentations have finally and irrevocably ruined his face.

Players met the skin quite coolly, as it doesn’t quite fit the classic Singed concept and story, where their favorite character is a mad scientist rather than a fanatical bodybuilder. Below is some feedback from League of Legends players:

My review

I don’t play Singed, so I can’t boast an extensive collection of skins for this champion and I don’t have Augmented Singed unfortunately, but I have seen him in video reviews and in-game. Overall I wouldn’t say it’s a complete bust, as it’s nice to see some bold moves by Riot Games’ designers with a complete reimagining of the classic champion image. 

Conclusion and Rating

I don’t recommend buying Augmented Singed, as there are many more interesting options in the store, such as Resistance or Black Scourge. Augmented is not the best skin, but I would give this one a 5 out of 10 for its boldness in design, and good reference to the Batman universe. I recommend to buy only if you need a complete collection on Singed rel=”nofollow” and you have all the other available skins.
