Barbarian Sion

Barbarian Sion Review

Hello, all fans of League of Legends! Today’s review is about a rather old skin, released on September 26, 2010, Barbarian Sion. You’ll still have time to make a few raids on Rift, as I won’t take up much of your time in this review. Get your two-handed axes in shape, get your horned helmets ready, and I’ll tell you about this skin and its major differences from the original skin in the meantime.

Lore

Barbarian Sion is a warrior nomad from an unknown tribe. History of his past life is unknown to us, but after his death on the battlefield he was brought back to life again and made to serve the High Commander. This time his appearance is more like a human, but in his soul there is only fire and rage. Who knows if he’ll ever get his rest, but for now Sion seems to enjoy it, endless fighting, what better way to make a true raging warrior? Nothing, of course!

Concept and inspiration

The designers at Riot Games have turned Sion into a ferocious barbarian. It’s easy to guess the inspiration for Barbarian Sion comes from Conan the Barbarian, played by everyone’s favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger. If we dig a little deeper and look for analogies from the world of games and fantasy that could have served as inspiration for Barbarian Sion, the Warhammer Fantasy universe immediately comes to mind, where the barbarians were very similar to our hero.

Design, sound effects and animation

The skin did not get new animations and sounds, so I will tell you about the main changes in his appearance:

Instead of the undead look, Sion now looks more like a human, more like a huge ferocious warrior barbarian.

Splash Art depicts Barbarian Sion against a ravaged battlefield, reminding players who the god of war is here.

The armor is adorned with fur, which frankly, looks like hay. Maybe the designers wanted to give a rougher look to the skin, and that was the idea.

The leather wristbands and the rest of the armor are made of leather.

The main weapon has been replaced by a double-edged axe, which will leave no chance for opponents on the Rift.

His helmet and belt are adorned with a magical red gem, which apparently keeps him alive or enhances his physical strength

Unique Features

Of the unique features of Barbarian Sion, we would like to emphasize the unusual image of the hero, turning him from undead to human, that is completely changing his appearance. Fans of skins with a completely reimagined appearance will like it.

Availability

The skin is still available for purchase in your inventory for 750 Riot Points, as well as at Hextech Crafting. Alternatively, I can suggest you visit the SmurfMania.com, store where you can pick up an account with Barbarian Sion and more for a nice price.

Reviews Gamers

Many LoL players have appreciated Barbarian Sion. Here are a few comments from real League of Legends fans:

“Honestly, it’s a cool aesthetic, reminds me of Conan”

“LOL got it in mystery gift guess its better than normal skin”

“Looks like Tryndamere in hulk mode”

“Lol this skin is awesome”

My review

I love skins that completely transform a champion, and I also play Sion occasionally, so I had no choice. Overall, Sion is very rich in skins that completely change his appearance and so you will often have to choose between, say, Barbarian and Mecha Zero or Blackfrost. I’d recommend going with Barbarian after the basics and getting Blackfrost first, but you don’t need to spend thousands of Riot Points on that, just go to Smurfmania.com and pick yourself up an account with a full collection of Sion skins and play at your own pleasure. I would give the skin rating of 5 points out of 10, a decent skin from the representatives of the oldest, but in 2023 is already much inferior to the novelties, and we can say that the test of time, he unfortunately has not passed.
